The annual Big Bear Turkey Trot is a 3-, 6- or 9- mile family friendly run held on Thanksgiving morning in the beautiful mountains of Big Bear Lake in Southern California. A fun and festive venue with all three distance options on the same course make it easy for everybody to participate!
The Big Bear Turkey Trot is the signature event for Open Air Big Bear, an IRS-certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The first 400 participants receive an event T-shirt and commemorative ornament at the event. Proceeds from this event support local food banks, a youth running series and outdoor athletic events in the Big Bear Valley.
Kids in strollers are welcome; children under age 5 are free (but do not receive bibs, shirts, ornaments, or timing chips).
Come ready to have fun and dressed in your best turkey, bear, autumn costume or ? We’ve got prizes for the best participant costumes and the fastest runners; awards include turkeys, cupcakes and freshly made local pies.
3-mile runners are treated to a yoga warm up routine from Colin Schour Yoga before the start of their race!
